‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ box office collection on Day 1 falls short of expectations!

A lot of expectations were riding on the latest offering of Shah Rukh Khan , Anushka Sharma and, of course, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali. But crushing all hopes Jab Harry Met Sejal almost crashed at the box office on its opening day. It was expected that the romantic film would open somewhere near the figure of Shah Rukh Khan ’s last release Raees which had minted Rs. 20.42 on day one at the ticket window, but unfortunately that did not happen as JHMS could open its account with a meagre income of Rs. 15.25 crores on its opening day, as reported by Bollywood Hungama. Jab Harry Met Sejal saw a wide release across 3200 screens in the domestic market.

Despite starring two most saleable stars of Bollywood – Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma , the film could not save itself from getting bad reviews on Friday. Almost all critics gave it poor ratings which majorly influenced the audience and resultantly Jab Harry Met Sejal opened with an average occupancy rate of 35-40 %, which is not great considering the heavyweights associated with the movie.

Jab Harry Met Sejal Review: Definitely worth a watch, but might leave you feeling underwhelmed!

As we had mentioned in our review that the film is definitely worth a watch because of the crackling chemistry Shah Rukh Khan shares with his co-star Anushka Sharma , but in spite of that it might leave you feeling underwhelmed. Something same happened with the movie. People who have seen it are praising SRK and Anushka’s chemistry, but beyond that, the film lacks in every department.

However, despite not so overwhelming collections, Jab Harry Met Sejal has turned out to be the fourth highest opener of 2017. With outstanding collections of Rs. 41 crores, Baahubali: The Conclusion is the top opener of 2017, followed by Salman Khan ’s Tubelight which raked in Rs. 21.15 crores on day 1. Shah Rukh Khan ’s Republic Day release Raees claims the third spot in the list with an income of Rs. Rs. 20.42 crores.

Now, it remains to be seen how far Jab Harry Met Sejal goes from here. If the film wants a respectable total, it will have to perform really well on Saturday and Sunday. It has only one week to score well as Akshay Kumar ’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha will take over from next week onwards.
