Directed by R.S. Prasanna, the light-hearted comedy film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan has brought in footfalls not only in single screens but multiplexes also. Toplined by Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar , the movie has been received really well by the class as well as mass. After an impressive weekend at the domestic box office, it performed well on its first Monday and earned Rs. 2.53 crores, taking its box office collection to Rs. 16.99 crores. The film had collected Rs 14.46 crores within its first three days of its release.
Compared to how some big-budgeted films, headlined by top stars, have performed at the box office in 2017, the performance of a small-budgeted film like Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is really commendable. Rs. 16.99 crore is indeed a good figure for a small-budgeted film like this. Moreover, the content-driven film was released alongside a biggie like Baadshaho , starring saleable stars like Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi , even then it manages to make its presence felt at the box office, which is really laudable.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan becomes the second consecutive successful film of its lead actors - Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar - as their recent releases - Bareilly Ki Barfi and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha respectively - were also hit.
