John Abraham Biography

Handsome Hunk John Abraham is a Model turned Actor and Producer of Bollywood. John was born to a Parsi mother and a Malyali father on 17th December 1972. Mom Firoza gave him a Parsi name 'Farhan'. He also has a younger brother named Alan. Abraham did his schooling in Mumbai from the Bombay Scottish School, Mahim. He then joined Jai Hind College to pursue a degree in Economics. Then he did his MMS from MET (Mumbai Educational Trust).

He worked in Enterprises-Nexus as a Media Planner. He then won a Gladrags Manhunt Contest and was promoted to Manhunt International where he stood second. He got many International modeling assignments after that. He did quite a few Commercials and appeared on some Music video albums in his struggling days. He also joined Kishor Namit Kapoor acting academy to learn acting. He was approached by Karan Johar for doing a small role in 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' which he refused. He got his first chance in the movie 'Jism' which was moderately successful. His next movies 'Saaya',' Paap', 'Lakeer' could not do much for him. But, in 2004's Blockbuster Yash Raj movie 'DHOOM', he garnered lots of accolades for playing a cool witty crook. He was cast by Deepa Mehta in the Movie 'Water' nominated in 2006 Academy awards. It got international acclaim. His movies 'Kabul Express' and 'Taxi No. 9211' too did a good job at the box office. His 2008 movie 'Dostana' is considered his best till date. His 2009 movie 'New York' and 2012s 'Housefull 2' were commercially successful. John turned producer with the movie 'Vicky Donor' starring Ayushman Khurana in the lead. 'Race 2' directed by Abbas-Mustan is his latest release. His future projects include Balaji Motion's 'Shootout at Wadala'.

He was in a 9 year relationship with Bengali beauty Bipasha Basu and is currently dating Priya Runchal. John has been also related to various social activities. He is rumored to have donated Rs.10 lakhs to Lelavati Hospital and Research Centre. He is also associated to 'Habitat for Humanity'.
