One line Review: Exceptional performance by the leads, strong plot and execution of the concept. Positive Points: The revenge tale witnesses startling performances by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Varun Dhawan, Sriram Raghavan's commendable direction, the film creates a distressing void due to the revenge drama and has an involving plot. The unpredictable climax leaves you enthralled. Negative Points: The second half of the movie loses its grip and seems dull at a few frames. Some unnecessary sequences dragged to length. Plot: The happy life of a common man Raghu (Varun Dhawan) is completely shattered when his beloved wife Misthi (Yami Gautam) and son Robin are murdered viciously in a bank robbery case. Raghu is completely lost being in a state of utter shock does not really accept the reality and keeps burning in the fire of revenge. One of the robbers is Laik (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who is the actual murderer is caught by the police while other one escapes tactfully. Raghu tries with all his wit and valour to find the other robber as according to Laik, his other partner Harman is the culprit. Laik is incarcerated for 20 years but is released in 15 years due to medical reasons. Meanwhile Raghu does all he can to find Laik's partner, the course of which also includes sleeping with Laik's prostitute girlfriend Jhumli (Huma Qureshi). The dark drama is filled with unpredictable twists and keeps the audiences hooked throughout the film. Direction and other Technical Aspects: Director Sriram Raghavan has done an appreciable task with the direction and execution of the storyline. The film skilfully depicts many shades of grey and gives you some goose bum moments. The plot is strong and the cinematography is fantastically done. The dry moments in the second half are alarming though can be hidden under the shadow of remarkable implementation. Performances: This revenge tale is completely performance driven. The spectacular performance by the villainous hero Raghu played by Varun Dhawan is worth all the praise. Doing a film completely out of league and proving to be incredible at it is a tough job which Varun managed to do. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a gem and makes his character look so naturally real that you are disgusted by him and ponder if there can be such people alive! He does complete justice as an antagonist and is superb in every frame. Yami Gautam, Huma Qureshi and Radhika Apte also play their part well strengthening the plot with their supporting roles. Music: The dark tale does not come with a lot of songs in the film. But the song Jee karda which was already a popular one, shown at the end with the credits makes its presence felt. Final Verdict: Watch the film if you enjoy stories with unpredictable twists and for the spectacular performances. The emotionally absorbing drama will leave you in soreness if you are not the revenge sort. But for the commendable direction, plot and execution it can be a onetime watch.
