One line Review: This light-hearted tale of love that manages to make take you to a delightful journey.
Positive Points: The refreshing storyline and execution is noteworthy. Also, the special effects and VFX used for Shashi, the friendly ghost, are impressive. The film managed to keep the audience hooked throughout.
Negative Points: Although, the length of the film is perfect, there are a few scenes that seem dragged and over stretched. The transition between the present and the flashback is not very smooth though comprehensible.

Anushka Sharma produces and stars in Phillauri, a light supernatural romantic entertainer that is directed by Anshai Lal. Phillauri also stars Suraj Sharma (in his first proper Bollywood movie), Diljit Dosanjh (fresh off the critical acclaim he received for Udta Punjab) and Mehreen Pirzada (who had made her debut with the Telugu movie Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha). Phillauri has Anushka Sharma playing a friendly ghost that has nothing to do with Casper. The movie also tries to address the still prevalent practice of marrying a girl or a boy to a tree (and sometimes dogs too) that continues in some parts of India.More »
In my encounters of ghosts on screen, I've known quite a variety -- fierce, horrific, gloomy, even goofy -- but Phillauri's well-behaved apparition is a first. She glows incandescently in the dark and floats through space in shimmering, translucent attire, like a wish-fulfilling fairy stumbling out of the pages of an exquisitely illustrated children's storybook. She speaks softly while her eyes glisten in wonderment.More »
Anvita Dutt writes a routine story with some 'spirit' to add fun but after the introduction of the gorgeous Anushka Sharma as Sashi, things hardly take any noticeable hilarious turn. During the preparations it is learnt that Kanan is a manglik, so as per 'rasam' (tradition, ritual) to be a danger free 'khasam' (husband) of Anu, Kanan has to marry a tree (the family tries to convince him by saying even Aishwarya did it), anyways the beat boxer agrees and after his marriage to the tree, the tree is cut down.More »
