2.0 or Padman, which Akshay Kumar starrer will shift its release date to avert the biggest clash of 2018?

2018 has yet not arrived, but the box office clashes that are going to create a storm in the upcoming year have surprised film enthusiasts and trade pundits all over the world. Though a number of big budgeted movies were expected to battle it out at the box office in the coming year, what surprised one and all was the announcement of a massive clash between Akshay Kumar ’s two much-awaited films, Padman and 2.0 . The makers of Padman announced that their film will release on January 26, while Kumar’s gobsmackingly expensive sci-fi flick, 2.0 , was scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 25th January.

While the makers of 2.0 had booked the release date of their film well in advance, Padman ’s release date was preponed to 26th January from 13th April. Some reports also claim that since Padman has now booked a Republic Day release, 2.0 makers are thinking of shifting their film to 13th April as no other big film is releasing on that date. However, Lyca Productions Creative Head, Raju Mahalingam, told a website that 2.0 would be out as scheduled.

Superstar Akshay Kumar , who this clash may turn out to be very detrimental to, said he will ensure that the two films don’t clash. “There is a lot of false information that is being circulated over both films releasing on the same day. Why would I clash with my own film? It will be either Padman or 2.0.”

The actor is willing to change the release date of Padman again if need be, but if sources are to be believed, Padman will release on 26th January only as the makers are set with everything. One of the co-producing companies KriArj Entertainment has even inked a deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment for the global release of the film on 26 Jan 2018.

So, now it remains to be seen if the makers of 2.0 move their film to some other date or they will lock horns with Padman . If the clash happens, the only person it will cost the most is Akshay Kumar as he plays leading roles in both the movies.
