Akshay Kumar , Sonam Kapoor , and Radhika Apte along with the film team have been shooting for the upcoming film Padman in schedules. After wrapping up the India schedule, Sonam and Akshay along with director R. Balki and team were headed to New York for an extensive schedule. Now, as per the latest update, the team has wrapped up the New York schedule as well. Akshay is known to wrap up his films swiftly and hence is able to do multiple films in a year. The movie is based on a chapter from her book ‘The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad’ and it’s about a man called Arunachalam Muruganantha, who was known as ‘sanitary man’ as he largely campaigned for the women’s menstrual hygiene in rural India. Twinkle Khanna turns producer with this film and Padman is produced under her banner Mrs. Funnybones Movies.
Taking about conceptualizing the film, Twinkle said, “Sometimes, we don’t have control over what our minds want to do or where it goes. I wrote ten chapters of a novel right after Mrs. Funnybones. But while I was searching for my column, I stumbled upon the story of Arunachalam Murugananham. It gripped me and I abandoned my novel and began writing The Sanitary Man. His journey is an important story. After a while, I began feeling that the only way to reach households was to make a film about it.”
Directed by R. Balki, the film has been scheduled to release on January 26, 2018.
