Akshaye Khanna to be next seen in Manish Gupta’s film ‘Section 375: Marzi Ya Jabardasti’!

Talented actor Akshaye Khanna , who was away from the last limelight for 4 years, made his comeback in 2016 and also appeared in 2 highly acclaimed movies ( Mom and Ittefaq ) of 2017. His last two films were suspense drama and he will continue the same feat by appearing a yet another suspense thriller. The 42-year-old will now be seen in Manish Gupta ’s film, titled, Section 375: Marzi Ya Jabardasti. Manish, who last helmed Rahasya (2015), will bring another thriller, which is inspired by 10 real-life cases. The film also stars Richa Chadha in the lead role

In an interview with a leading daily, Manish said, ‘’In recent times, there have been a number of cases where it’s ambiguous whether it was rape or consensual sex. The law can be misused by both men and women alike. This film is about how a law against rape made to protect women can also be misused by them.’’

He attended several hearings in court for two years as part of his research. “There is a special court with a special female judge who only hears rape cases. I have also met survivors, their families, alleged rapists and both their lawyers,” he says. “It’s very disturbing not only for the accused and the survivors but also their families,’’ the filmmaker added.

In the film, Akshaye will essay the role of a lawyer who is fluent in English. “I did not want a typical Bollywood hero who sings and dances. I needed an intelligent guy, somebody who looks 40, qualities I found in Akshaye,’’ Manish said, asserting that till the end you will be left guessing about whether it was a rape or consensual sex. And Richa will essay the role of a public prosecutor.

In the past, Bollywood has witnessed many successful courtroom drama movies like, Pink , Rustom , Jolly LLB series and many more, so it will be exciting to see what more the director has to give to the masses.
