Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh who is known for his comic roles is all set to play an iconic character. Riteish will be soon seen playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in his upcoming Marathi film. The actor will also be producing this venture and his team is currently busy in the pre-production work. Riteish’s last Marathi film Lai Bhari proved to be a hit and his keen interest in regional cinema will see him one again explore the territory.
Riteish stated that he is set to make a movie that will make the Marathas proud! Indeed, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is Maharashtra’s pride and a film on his life will be loved dearly by one and all. Previously, Mahesh Manjrekar’s ‘Marathi film ‘Mi Shivaji Raje Bhosle Boltoi’ has also been hugely successful.
Riteish is happy to be taking up this subject. In a media interaction, Riteish spoke about content driven Marathi cinema and appreciated it. He is glad that the films are receiving awards and recognition they deserve. He states that the commercial success of the 2016 blockbuster Sairat has opened new doors of opportunities for regional cinema and now they are accepted with open arms.
On the Bollywood front, Riteish will be next seen in Y-Films comedy drama Bank Chor with Vivek Oberoi and Rhea Chakraborty.
