Global Icon Priyanka Chopra to now back an Assamese film!

Our Desi Girl Priyanka Chopra has now become a global icon. Her hit show ‘Quantico’ has taken her stardom to another level. But even after ruling the Hollywood, PeeCee is concerned for India and Indian cinema. The beauty queen is an established actor and singer but for the past few years, she has become a successful producer as well. Unlike other celebs, Priyanka chose the regional cinema and till date has backed many such movies. But now, after producing Bhojpuri, Marathi, Punjabi and Sikkimese films, the diva is driving an Assamese project. The film is titled ‘Bhoga Khirikee’ (Broken Window) and is being directed by Jahnu Barua.

A source told a leading tabloid, "The film revolves around a female protagonist, whose life is in turmoil due to the ideological clash among the three men in her life – her father, her husband and a stranger. Priyanka loved the script and instantly agreed to back the project."

In the past, Priyanka has produced regional films like, ‘Bam Bam Bol Raha Hai Kashi’ (Bhojpuri), ‘Ventilator’ (Marathi), ‘Sarvann’ (Punjabi), ‘Kay Re Rascalaa’ (Marathi), ‘Pahuna’ (Sikkimese) and now, she has her eyes on the Assamese cinema.

Confirming the news, her mother, Dr Madhu Chopra said, "The north-eastern states are the most under-represented in our country. We, as a production house, endeavour to showcase Bhoga Khirikee for the world to see."

Apart from her TV show and her projects as a producer, her latest Hollywood film ‘A Kid Like Jake’ released last month and received a wide critical acclaim.
