Irrfan Khan signs a film based on Pakistani novel Moth Smoke

Irrfan Khan will be working with Oscar-winning filmmaker Asif Kapadia on a film inspired by Pakistani novel.

Away from the communal tension, India and Pakistan share a close bond with art and literature. Where our Indian actors are admired even by them, we are in love with their literature and how can one forget our Pakistani-find Fawad Khan! So continuing to these ties, Irrfan Khan has now signed a film based on Pakistani novel named Moth Smoke.

In his recent media interaction, Irrfan confirmed this venture saying he is very much excited to work with Oscar-winning filmmaker Asif Kapadia on Moth Smoke. Earlier, they had worked together in 2001 film The Warrior.

Asif will be co-writing and directing Moth Smoke. He and an independent producer Dina Dattani have acquired the novel’s rights from author Mohsin Hamid. It is also said that both will be pitching the film in on-going Cannes 2017 to the buyers.

Producer Dattani revealed that the film to be set in contemporary times. Mostly they are considering for the plot set in 1998 at the backdrop of a nuclear test between India and Pakistan.

With this Irrfan has got some exciting projects in hand, he will be also starring in Hollywood film named Puzzle. His recent release Hindi Medium is widely praised by the critics for such a powerful subject. It has also got the mass attention for its quirky dialogues.
