After teasing the audience by unveiling one interesting poster after the other, Akshay Kumar finally released the trailer of his much-awaited film, ‘ Padman ’ on 15th December. As was expected, within minutes of going live on YouTube, the trailer inflamed the internet and started trending across all social media platforms.

Based on a true story, ‘ Padman ’ is a social drama film, which talks about a very pertinent topic of low-cost sanitary napkins for women in rural areas. In the trailer, Akshay is shown as a villager who manages to manufacture low-cost sanitary pads for his wife and the entire rural women and becomes the desi superhero. The trailer of the film looks amazing and Akshay’s character, very warm and affable. But after watching the trailer, don’t you think that Bollywood has already witnessed another movie on a similar topic earlier this year. We are talking about actor Sharib Hashmi ’s 2017 film, ‘ Phullu ’. ‘ Phullu ’ is also a story of a villager, who is initially shown as a useless and unemployed married man, but later ends up making low-cost napkins for rural women’s after seeing the pain and the inconveniences which women go through during menstruation.

Where the ‘ Phullu ’s trailer shows that the story is based on true events, the makers of ‘ Padman ’ have officially announced that their movie is the life story of Coimbatore-based, Arunachalam Muruganantham. ‘ Padman ’ trailer shows Akshay as a happy man, who reaches the US because of his noble work, ‘ Phullu ’, on the other hand, revolves around the struggles of Sharib’s character, who fights against all odds for the little service he wants to give to the women of his village.

Looking at ‘ Phullu ’, it only gives us the hint about the struggle of the actor, while, ‘ Padman ’ shows the journey of a man whose work gets appreciated and helps him become a hero for his village. Even if ‘ Padman ’ shares a little similarity with ‘ Phullu ’, with Akshay Kumar ’s name attached to the film, the film will turn out to be a major success at the box office. And that is what matters in the end.

Meanwhile R Balki ’s ‘ Padman ’ is slated to hit the big screen on 26th January 2018.
