Main Tamanna - An Initiative by Aakanksha Nimonkar

When Aakanksha Nimonkar, young indie film maker, set out to capture a real life story on celluloid, little did she think that the film will become a game changer. Motivated to spread awareness of child abuse, she made a compelling film "Meri Tamanna" which took the world of cinema by storm.

It won the Best Film at the Sydney Film Festival and IFEFA. This was followed by another award, for the Best Film at the Bangalore Film Festival, Bengaluru. Another feather in the cap was the 50 lakhs clicks that the film garnered on You Tube.

Aakanksha herself, who played the title role of Tamanna which won her the 'Best Actor' award for the portrayal. Her depiction of a young daughter of an abusive father, who surmounts all obstacles to become a success in life, she left audience yearning for more. Furthermore, Aakanksha's own life's experiences of living alone in the mega city of Mumbai, is beautifully illustrated in the film. Fighting all odds, Aakanksha is today an epitome of what woman should be... strong, determined and ambitious.

As the film was a real life story, the viewers wanted to know what happens to the father who is now old and ageing. The daughter he then abused has triumphed in life. The success of this film spurred Aakanksha to make a sequel "Meri Tamanna - Part 2". This is not all, Aakanksha wants to create a global awareness against child abuse and take this initiative to an international level.

On the other hand, not forgetting to give her audience a taste of entertainment, Aakanksha is in the process of making a thrilling entertainer "The Secret Society". This film is being produces by her new production house, 'Third Eye Entertainment', which she has just established,

Putting her potent force behind the film is another Shakti Anu Ranjan. A celebrated entrepreneur and an eminent media personality, Anu Ranjan joins hands to spread awareness about her NGO "Beti" to combat the issue of female infanticide. She comes out in full support of "Meri Tamanna" and further to fight the challenges of child abuse.

Using her good offices, Anu brought together the movers and shakers from the glittering world of Bollywood. The celebrities sashayed down the catwalk proudly presenting the "Ghungroo" collection by the prominent fashion designer Archana Kochhar. The funds collected during this event will be donated to the NGO "Beti"
