Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’ to hit screens on 27th April 2018?

On 2nd December, Lyca Productions officially announced that Shankar’s magnum opus, ‘ 2.0 ’, will hit screens worldwide in April next year. Though no particular date was mentioned by them, noted trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, announced that the costliest film of the nation will release on 27th April 2018. Saturday morning, Taran took to his Twitter account and wrote, “#BreakingNews: #2Point0 to release on 27 April 2018... Stars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar... Directed by Shankar.” If Taran’s words are to be believed, then the film will clash with three other big films, namely, ‘Baaghi 2’, ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’, and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.

No official statement has been released by Lyca Productions about the final release date of the film. However, in an earlier statement, the makers had said, "Lyca Productions-Superstar Rajinikanth - Akshay Kumar - Shankar magnum opus Sci-Fi action thriller 2.0 to be screened worldwide in April 2018. Nation's costliest 3D' film starring Superstar Rajinikanth , Akshay Kumar , Amy Jackson, directed by Shankar , music by A R Rahman . The high-tech post-production words are fully geared and the team is all set to the release schedule."

If ' 2.0 ' releases on 27th April, the film will have to battle out with three big-ticket films, namely, ' Baaghi 2 ', ' Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi ' and the Hollywood biggie, 'Infinity War'. The release dates of ‘ Baaghi 2 ’ and Kangana Ranaut 's ' Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi ' were announced months back, while the makers of ‘Infinity War’ announced the release date a week ago. With 3 big films already lined up to release on the 27th April, ‘ 2.0 ’s clash with them will surely haunt the box office.
