Ranbir Kapoor clarifies the speculation about Govinda’s presence in Jagga Jasoos!
Anurag Basu’s upcoming film Jagga Jasoos has faced several road blocks and is finally sailing smoothly towards its release. Lead stars Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor are leaving no stone unturned for the promotions. But, the controversy surrounding Govinda’s presence in the film and the statements along with the still that was going around on the internet made fans ponder. Despite the still, it was stated by the makers that Govinda is not part of the film. Finally, in a recent media interaction, Basu and Ranbir clarified it and pushed aside the speculation.
Basu said, “I've shot a couple of days with him in the first schedule. Then there were changes in the story and other things. But Govinda isn't in the film, his part isn't there. It was very kind of him to agree when I requested him for the guest appearance. But it's our loss that he isn't there.”
Ranbir Kapoor stated, “Unfortunately, the entire track has been chopped off; it is our fault, Basu and mine. We had started this film very prematurely, without a complete script. The character had completely changed, and the film was taking so long. It is very irresponsible, and very unfair to cast a great legend like Govinda and not give justice to his role. It is very unfortunate the way things panned out. We are apologetic, but it is for the best for the film that we had to cut that track out.”
Apparently, Govinda shot for the first schedule in South Africa with a half-backed plot story and later the entire portion was chopped off. The veteran star did not demand any signing amount or script according to him as he respects the Kapoors who were his seniors in the industry. But, since the whole script changed later, unfortunately, the actor could not be a part of the film.
