Shah Rukh Khan opened up exclusively on Jab Harry Met Sejal, directed by Imtiaz Ali!

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is a darling when in talks with media and recently while in conversation with the leading daily, he spoke about his upcoming film Jab Harry Met Sejal and, his thoughts about the industry and the business. Here is the gist of it all!

On the title confusion about his upcoming film Jab Harry Met Sejal directed by Imtiaz Ali.

Shah Rukh said, “The first time we thought of the name was when I was shooting for Karan Johar's film with Ranbir Kapoor. Karan wanted this title. In a way, it reminds you of When Harry Met Sally, which is a classic love story, and the characters in this film are called Harry and Sejal. This name establishes that the film is a happy-go-lucky, light-hearted, comic love story. Imtiaz was wary in the beginning, as he thought that it would remind people too much of Jab We Met”

On his return to the ‘Romance Genre’ after a long time!

“That's right; I haven't done a pure love story in years. I won't call it a rom-com, but this is a comic love story. Knowing Imtiaz's style, the film has a strong emotional element. The story is about two people who are as different as chalk and cheese. They see life differently and the story unfolds when the two of them come together. I think youngsters will relate to the story and will find a strong connect with the characters,” SRK added.

About Imtiaz Ali, the director of Jab Harry Met Sejal!

The actor stated, “He unfolds his stories sensitively, but with a modern take. I probably shouldn't say this and I don't want you to judge me, but I think girls will really like both the characters (who have high emotions and sentiments) a lot. When we were seeing parts of the film at my office, most of the girls went aww!”

About his co-star Anushka Sharma!

SRK further said, “I always thought that Anushka is a mature actor and she leads the film and gets involved in the whole process, way beyond her part. Imtiaz wanted to do some other film with her, so he was clear that he wanted Anushka for this film and she's quite the heart and soul of the story. I believe that in a love story, the girl should always lead the film. Everybody calls me the King of Romance, but in a love story, the girl plays the more important part or an equally important part. Am I sounding too girly saying all this? (Laughs)"

On Release dates tussle on Bollywood Box Office?

The actor added, “A few weeks ago, the August 4 weekend opened up; it is also a long weekend with Raksha Bandhan being celebrated. Secondly, the theme that the film is associated with has the capacity to be released across 4,000 theaters, and when we clash with another big film, we run under capacity and there is no breathing space. Also, if we get a long weekend for big films, it always works better.

Thirdly, because it is a feel-good, youthful story, I think and hope it has a long run. Unfortunately, many of my films have seen clashes at the BO, and when that happens, everyone starts talking only about the collections and the competition. It takes away from the film and what we have set out to do and this move is better for both the films.”

SRK's upcoming film Jab Harry Met Sejal, directed by Imtiaz Ali , will be in theaters on 4th Aug 2017. And besides Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma , the fun rom-com film also features an ensemble cast of Sayani Gupta, Evelyn Sharma, Chandan Roy Sanyal and also Anil Kapoor.
