Shahid Kapoor will be seen sword slinging for his role in Padmavati!

Although not many people liked Shahid Kapoor ’s transition from his chocolate-boy image to more of a mature and method acting approach in films of recent years! From shaving off his head for Haider or growing long-hairs and some dreadlocks for Udta Punjab ! And now he took one step further for his upcoming film, Padmavati ! Being a periodic drama directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali , Shahid is playing the character of Raja Rawal Ratan Singh, he was asked to get on training for the sword fighting to give an edge to his role! And judging by the BTS stills of his training session, the film would likely to have intense sword fight sequence in Padmavati !

The character Shahid Kapoor portrays belong to the Mewar dynasty and with power house follow very swift sword fencing techniques, which differ from sword fighting in the best part of India. It consists of the quick swinging sword from the wrist, rather than from the arm and swing around the upper body, while intimidating their opponent! The training session must have been intense and pain-causing as for learners it can be an exhausting experience! And sword fighting seems to be a must to have element in the period films in the coming time, as there will be an intense fight sequence in Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan ’s Thugs of Hindostan and recently Kangana Ranaut also made news as she is also going through intense sword training session for her role in Manikarnika ! As long as these sword fights are nail-biting, we are good with all period dramas!

Shahid recently dubbed for his role of Raja Rawal Ratan Singh in the recording studio of Mumbai! Besides Shahid Kapoor , Padmavati features a talented stat-cast of Ranveer Singh , Deepika Padukone along with Aditi Rao Hydari , Jim Sarbh , Sonu Sood and even Danny Denzongpa in the supporting cast! Ranveer will be seen essaying the role of the medieval-era Delhi ruler Alauddin Khilji. Deepika plays the title role of Queen Padmavati.
