This is what Khiladi Akshay Kumar says on working with his wife in the film ‘Padman’!
This is her baby and I felt even more responsible than usual to deliver, says Akshay Kumar on working with Twinkle Khanna.
Directed by R. Balki, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Padman’ is a sensitive cum gripping story which the actor feels needs to be told. Based on Twinkle Khanna's book, ‘The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad’, ‘Padman’ is the first venture, where the real-life couple Akki and Twinkle are coming together in terms of filmmaking. When asked Akshay about his experience on working on his wife’s film, the actor said, “I felt even more responsible than usual to deliver my best because she was behind this project. This is her baby, right from the concept. This is something we are doing together for the first time. I am happy that it is not a mundane film. The film addresses a topic that can truly impact a number of lives."
Movies like this don’t need the commercial style of story-telling when asked casting Akshay in the film, Twinkle said, "Initially, I thought of making a small movie, but then Akshay and Balki (director) were both excited about the concept. 'Padman' is my first production, so I can't comment on what it's like to be the producer of an Akshay Kumar-starrer, except that in this movie, the things I normally nag him about, like working too much, turned out to be an asset."
‘Padman’, which is slated to release on Republic Day next year, is inspired by the life of social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham and deals with the issue of menstrual hygiene and breaking taboos. The film also stars Sonam Kapoor, Radhika Apte Sudhir Pandey, Maya Alagh and Amitabh Bachchan in Cameo Appearance
