Former actress turned author Twinkle Khanna has now donned the hat of a producer. The lady, along with husband Akshay Kumar , is coming up with their first production Padman under their banner Mrs Funnybones. Twinkle Khanna is a woman with wit and her books are sharp, witty and humorous. For her first film, she has chosen the subject of menstrual hygiene and the importance of using sanitary napkins. Regarding the issue, Twinkle opens up about taxes that are levied on these products not only in India but globally.

Twinkle reveals how in remote areas in India, girls cannot afford sanitary pads and hence opt out of school when they start menstruating and the same is in England as well. So, this is a global issue. Here is the video:

The movie Padman is based on a chapter from her book ‘The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad’ and it’s about a man called Arunachalam Muruganantha, who was known as ‘sanitary man’ as he largely campaigned for the women’s menstrual hygiene in rural India. Akshay plays the title role while Radhika plays the role of his wife. Sonam Kapoor also has a key role in the movie.

Padman has been scheduled to release on January 26, 2018.
