South star Jyothika to fill Vidya Balan’s shoes in the Tamil remake of Tumhari Sulu!
Jyothika will be seen as a housewife-RJ and the film will be helmed by Radha Mohan.
Last year Vidya Balan appeared in a light-hearted comedy-drama, Tumhari Sulu, by Suresh Triveni and it became a major hit at the box office. Vidya’s portrayal of a housewife-turned-RJ won everyone’s hearts and she won all the major awards as well. As Bollywood is known for remaking regional movies, now, makers from South are keen to remake this film in Tamil. Actress Jyothika has been zeroed in on to play Vidya’s role in it. The actress is already on the movie signing spree and the Tumhari Sulu remake added another feather to her cap. The film will be helmed by Radha Mohan, who had earlier worked with the actress.
Ever since she made her comeback in 2015, Jyothika’s interesting choice of films is reflecting well on her career graph. Her latest release ‘Naachiyaar’, in which she plays a tough police officer, has received favourable reviews from critics and is currently running house-full across theatres.
Meanwhile, Jyothika is teaming up with Mani Ratnam for the first time in ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’, jointly produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. The film has a cast including Simbu, Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swami, Arun Vijay, Aditi Rao Hydari and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead.
