BollywoodMDB Exclusive: &TV to launch a fantasy show titled ‘Vikram Betaal’!
The show will be based on Betaal Pacchisi, written approximately 2,500 years ago by Mahakavi Somdev Bhatt.

If the truth is to be told, fantasy is a genre which has not been exploited well in Indian television space. Having said that, there have been many attempts to create engrossing fantasy dramas by makers but, barring a few, none could succeed in grabbing the attention of the audience. However, with the advent of new technology and backing of makers who are ready to spend like a sailor, the genre is witnessing a revival in India. Thinking that this might be the right time to foray into the fantasy space, popular GEC &TV is planning to launch a show called Vikram Betaal.
As the name suggests itself, the new show will be based on Baital Pacchisi. But instead of focusing just on folklore and fantasy, it will also try to tell stories in such a manner that they help the common man understand the various trials and tribulations of modern life.
According to a source, the makers are planning to mount the show on a lavish scale. Since a couple of shows on the same theme have been broadcast in the past, the makers want to give the audience a never-seen-before kind of experience and hence they want it to be shot on a grand scale.
Though it is yet not confirmed which production house is going to produce the show, it has come to our knowledge that well-known creative director Nitish Ranjan is associated with it.
