It’s no more a secret that some heavyweights of Bollywood are busy making three different films on the same topic of the Battle of Saragarhi, which took place in 1897 between British Indian Army and Afghan Orakzai tribesmen in the North-West Frontier Province. The first film in the line is director Rajkumar Santoshi ’s Battle of Saragarhi, which features Randeep Hooda in the male lead. The talented actor will be seen in the role of Havildar Ishar Singh, who led 21 Sikhs of the 36th Sikhs (now the 4th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment), in the historical war drama. Hooda even shared his first look on Twitter last year.

The next film on the same topic is Ajay Devgn ’s Sons of Sardaar: The Battle of Saragarhi. The project has been in the news since long but has yet not gone on floors. And since Ajay has announced his next biopic, Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior, on the Maratha legend, Tanaji Malusare, it will be interesting to see if the project mount floors in the near future or it will be shelved.

The third film on the same battle with the same hero, Havildar Ishar Singh, is Karan Johar and Salman Khan ’s co-production starring none other than Akshay Kumar in the titular role. As if three films were not enough, one of the leading television production houses, Contiloe Pictures Private Limited, has also jumped into the fray to make a lavish TV series on the same Battle of Saragarhi.
