There were constant notions that were made of the kind of topics Indian television and daily soap-operas in particular dealt with and it is mostly noted that it can go from social informing and empowering to “What the crap did I just watched!” Just when Indian viewers thought, there must be limit to such illogical drama and adaptation of some bizarre ideas, Sony TV released their new serial Pehredaar Piya Ki, which became talk of the town and all for wrong reasons. And since the first episode of the serial is aired the heat for this soap-opera just went haywire!

For starters, it is just creepy idea to pair up a 18 year old woman to a 10yr old boy and portray them as love interest and writing a whole series on it, is beyond imagination! And in first episode, let your imagination run for a while and imagine a Karva Chauth scene involving the two and the little boy filling ‘Sindoor’ in his older bride’s head! You felt that cringe? We did too!

And for the rest of the episode, makers spare viewers with light-hearted-cringe and showcases little boy roaming around while stalking and taking pictures with his polaroid of a 18 year old girl, is cute, as they want us to assume! And to make the child protagonist heroic, they even plot a cockroach trick to introduce character or kid Ratan Singh and Divya to each other in typical Bollywood clichéd way possible!

Social media to the note and openly bash such glorification of medieval testament that clearly makes no sense to brought back to the mainstream television and even to discuss, other than in history class. It would be interesting to see how low stories narration would take a dip down to gain mediocre attention of masses!
