Ponniyin Selvan first look unveiled! Part 1 to release on September 30

Reported to one of the most elaborate projects of Mani Ratnam, the first look of Ponniyin Selvan has finally been revealed. The period drama set in 10th century stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Sarathkumar, Rahman, and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The first instalment of Ponniyin Selvan will be released on September 30, 2022.
Adapted from a Tamil novel with the same title, the narrative takes place in the 10th century, during a turbulent period in the Chola Empire, when power struggles between rival branches of the governing family produced severe rifts among the prospective successors to the reigning monarch.
It's an action-adventure narrative in which valiant troops, cunning spies, and wicked plotters compete to take over the kingdom. Unless the scores are resolved, a civil war will erupt. As a result of all of this political and military conflict, the Cholas became the continent's most rich and powerful empire, as well as one of the most successful and long-ruling empires in history.
The script for Ponniyin Selvan was written by Mani Ratnam, Elango Kumaravel, and B Jeyamohan, while the soundtrack was composed by AR Rahman. Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies collaborated on the historical play. The technical crew consists of Ravi Varman, who is in charge of the camera for the film, and Sreekar Prasad, who is in charge of the editing.
The film started shooting in December 2019, however because of the COVID-19 epidemic, it had to be placed on hold for nine months in 2020.
