Ranveer was interested in acting from his childhood days. He participated in various plays and debate competitions. But after growing up he developed a feeling that acting was only for those who had a filmy background as according to him getting a break in a movie was a hard nut to crack. According to him, the idea of acting in the films was "too-far-fetched".Thus he developed an interest in creative writing. He did his Junior College from HR college of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. He then went U.S to get a degree in Arts from Indiana University, Bloomington. But after that he realized that acting was his real passion and he enrolled in an acting institute there. Eyeing to get a lead role he refrained from working in any Ads or T.V. He also worked as a copywriter for O&M and JWT after coming to India. He was called for a screen test for Yash Raj Movie 'Band Baaja Baaraat' and was selected unanimously by all. Thus the critically and commercially hit movie marked his debut in Bollywood alongside Anushka Sharma. He won the Filmfare best male debut for the same. He then appeared in 'Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl' with the same director (Maneesh Sharma) and actress of his debut movie. The film also had Parineeti Chopra and Dipannita Sharma alongside. It too did a good business at the Box office.
Now this budding actor is eyed by every director and is ready to grace the screen with many big movies. He will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Ram Leela' alongside Deepika Padukone, in 'Lootera' opposite Sonakshi Sinha,in Ali Abbas Zafar's 'Gunday' and, in Shaad Ali's 'Kill Dil.'
