Kangana Ranaut starts filming for 'Emergency' in Assam

Guwahati, November 16: On Wednesday, Bollywood diva Kangana Ranaut began filming in Assam for her forthcoming movie "Emergency." Before beginning the recent shoot, the actor, known for her contentious remarks, had lately visited various areas in Assam. The actor posted on Instagram, saying, "OK, let's get started. Assam schedule to begin... #Emergency ". The actress will play the role of then-Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the movie, which will be based on the actual Emergency that occurred in that country in 1975.

According to rumours, Ranaut wrote and directed the movie. J. P. Narayan will be portrayed by actor Anupam Kher, Atal Bihari Vajpayee by actor Shreyas Talpade, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw by actor Milind Soman, and author-cultural activist Pupul Jayakar by actress Mahima Chaudhry.

The Emergency film's producers announced that Vishak Nair had been chosen to play Sanjay Gandhi. Nair has mainly played supporting roles in Malayalam films like Chunkzz, Puthan Panam, and Aanandam. Along with Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, and Milind Soman, Nair joins the cast.

As Kangana praised Nair in an interview, she said. "One of the most important individuals in Mrs. Gandhi's life is Sanjay. I needed a performer who could portray a man who was still innocent but also cunning at the same time. He is equally passionate and competent. The man could play a wide range of emotions and needed numerous shades,"

I'm happy to be introducing a new face in a massive film following Avneet. Vishak is a fantastic actor who has appeared in several Malayalam films. Since this is his first Hindi movie, I have no doubt that he would do Sanjay's character a great justice, " she further added.
