Kajol ruthlessly trolled for advising people to save water during Holi; internet users labelled her a "hypocrite"

On the occasion of Holi, Bollywood actress Kajol recently took to her Instagram to greet her fans with a Holi wish through a video. With that, she urged all of her fans and followers to be mindful of water consumption on this particular day. She shared a video in which she could be heard stating, “Wishing everyone a very very happy holi and safe holi, most importantly. So save water and play holi with whatever you feel like but have a happy and safe holi.”
The statement, however, was not well received by netizens, who used it as fuel for trolling. They not only mocked her message, but they also made fun of her husband, Ajay Devgn. They then went on to search her films for instances in which she used a lot of water, such as Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaaenge (1995), Dilwale (2015), and Fanaa (2006), and mocked her for being a hypocrite. They also brought up Ajay Devgn's Vimal Paan Masala endorsement. A netizen commented, “If using water and celebrating a festival can bring happiness to people, I would not term it as wastage of the resource as it's the only day in a year people can be happy. Giving gyaan on HOLI simply means that you guys forget the importance for rest 364 days & suddenly realize the importance of water.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Kajol will next be seen in a film directed by Revathy.
