Kajol shares her opinion about OTT and further claims, ‘The influx of people on social media has diluted the potential for stardom

Unquestionably, Kajol is one of the most well-known actors in Hindi cinema. The actress has been in the entertainment industry for 30 years after making her screen debut in Bekhudi in 1992. Kajol has had a number of standout performances over the past three decades in movies like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Gupt, Baazigar, and many others. She was last seen in the Netflix series Tribhanga alongside Tanvi Azmi and Mithila Palkar. In her latest interview, the actress spoke on how OTT has created a completely different space and also shared her opinion on the way celebrities share their lives on social media, which makes people lose interest in watching them on the big screen.

The Fanaa actress said, “Actually, right now it's a fabulous time for actors all over because they're getting so much exposure. Everybody has so much work and I love the fact that OTT has brought out some fabulous actors, you know. You have people who are genuinely fabulous actors getting a stage and being able to show exactly what they are capable of, and becoming stars in their own right despite the fact that they don't have a 24 inches waistline and a 36 inches chest or a 46 inches chest.”

Further, Kajol elaborated on how social media exposure impacts a person's potential for stardom. She said, “The influx of people on social media has diluted it. The only people who were famous were the only people on the big screen. Now you can be famous for a number of things – the way you comb your hair, nails, etc. There are so many ways to be famous today. Fame has itself become a very used common pronoun. Most people put their entire lives on social media and are doing only that one thing 24 hours. Half the time they are on screen, half the time they are on social media. I truly admire that they are able to put in that much time and energy but it does dilute your (stardom). If you can see somebody on social media, why will you go to the screen to watch them.”
