Karan questioned Samantha about the biggest female actor she believed to be in the South film industry. In her statement, Samantha made reference to her most recent album, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal (2022). She said, “Well, I just did a film with Nayanthara.” Samantha hinted that she believes Nayanthara to be the biggest actress in South India's various industries. In his response to Samantha, the filmmaker said, “Well, not in my list!” The fans of Nayanthara were offended by Karan's statement.

In a recent list of the top female actors in the nation, Samantha was ranked first, according to Karan, which was shared by a media agency. Soon after, Karan received criticism from netizens for treating Nayanthara poorly on his show.
