Pankaj Tripathi says he loves doing both OTT & films: ‘I feel fortunate that OTT boomed in time’

One of the most prominent "leading men" in the OTT industry right now is Pankaj Tripathi. The actor will make an appearance in Mirzapur's third season sometime next year. You can count on Pankaj Tripathi to give it his all when he is working on a web series. He will be seen reprising another role—attorney Madhav Mishra—in the third season of Criminal Justice after earning mixed reviews for his most recent movie, Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga.

Ahead of his show’s release, the actor claims that balancing OTT projects with popular Hindi feature films was a wise decision on his behalf. Pankaj said, “I feel fortunate that OTT boomed in my time. Here, it doesn’t matter how many screens one gets or the number of shows, only content matters. If it has good content, anyone can watch it from anywhere in the world. If a story is not good, people won’t watch it anyway, but if performance mein dum Hoga then people will watch your work and give you love.”

When the actor was asked about what he preferred doing more, OTT or films, he replied, “I didn’t plan it, it was a very organic move for me to do both. But web series entered my life at a good time. When Mirzapur, Sacred Games, and Criminal Justice were offered to me, I had only seen if the story was good or not. I didn’t know these shows would turn out to be so popular, and nor did I ever think that these platforms would give me this kind of popularity and take my work to so many countries, households, and people. I am still striving to be part of good stories. Oh My God and Fukrey 3 are big films and will first release in cinema halls but will eventually come on OTT and satellite too. So, I am in a good space because I am a part of both.

Criminal Justice: Adhura Sach is directed by Rohan Sippy and produced by Applause Entertainment in collaboration with BBC Studios. The show will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar on August 26.
