The film was cleared by the censor board for its daring subject matter and female homosexual love story, and it was then given an A certificate.

The Satya (1998) director recently stated in an interview that, "We didn't expect much of 'Dangerous: Khatra to pass through the censors as it is a love story between two women, but gay after the abrogation of Section 377. The relationship has been legalised. Dangerous: I am very happy when the first Indian lesbian film gets an A certificate, I would be very disappointed if it does not get an A certificate.”

The film's plot revolves around the love of two women who are fed up with this male-dominated society and are drawn to one another. This crime thriller-drama film contains some very daring and intimate scenes. Apsara Rani and Naina Ganguly, the hot sirens of South films, play the lead roles in the film.
