Swara Bhasker comes in support of Taapsee Pannu’s film Shabaash Mithu earning low at the box-office
Veere Di Wedding star Sawara Bhasker came in support of her friend Taapsee Pannu, as fans tag her in a tweet related to the film not earning enough.

Taapsee Pannu starrer Shabaash Mithu was released in theatres on July 15. The film only brought in 40 lakhs on the day of release, according to a Box Office India report. It failed to bring in more than one crore at the box office, not even on its second day. While the flick continues to run in theatres with low numbers, Swara Bhasker who is very outspoken came in support of the film.
The Sheer Qorma actress was tagged by a fan in a tweet related to the film which read, “ ReallySwara as a women lib crusader your thoughts when female-driven films like #shabashmithu tank like how taapsee.” Swara supportingly replied to the tweet by writing, “I don’t believe that box office earnings are the sole determinant of the value of films. Some now cult films were box office duds and some films no better than tripe have been hit… I loved the trailer of #shabashmithu and am catching it in theatres this week.”

According to Taapsee and Mithali, the driving cause behind the movie was their effort to level the playing field for women in their different professions. Earlier, the Haseen Dillruba actress had stated, “In our country, there are two religions – cricket and films. If you call yourself a cricket-loving nation then you should love women’s cricket equally, you are not just a men’s cricket-loving nation. Cricket should matter and not gender. Same way, the gender of the protagonist shouldn’t matter. It should be about how the film is. You do pre-booking of a movie if it is a male protagonist but wait for reviews for a female protagonist. That is where I connected to her.”
Apart from her recent release, Taapsee will be next seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki starring Shah Rukh Khan.
