Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra & Fatima Sana Shaikh starrer SamBahadur goes on floor

Actors Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh have started filming for their upcoming film SamBahadur. Based on the life of India’s greatest war hero and first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw, SamBahadur is directed by Meghna Gulzar of Raazi (2018) fame. The film features Vicky in the titular role.

Announcing the news, the makers of the film released a video featuring Vicky Kaushal as SamBahadur, along with Sanya and Fatima. This video highlights the behind-the-scenes brainstorming sessions and the dedication the entire team put to ensure that the film does full justice to the life of Sam Manekshaw.

Meghna Gulzar, who is helming the film, said she is very excited to start the project. “Finally, after years of extensive research, writing, brainstorming and rigorous preparation, 'SamBahadur' has finally gone on floors. It is tremendously fulfilling to be on set and have the opportunity to tell the story of Sam Manekshaw's inspiring life. A life of bravery, courage, determination and righteousness. They don’t make men like him anymore!," she added.

Echoing the sentiments of Meghna, Vicky Kaushal also expressed that he is looking forward to the film with a lot of enthusiasm and eagerness.

"I am fortunate to portray the role of a real life hero and patriot who is still remembered and loved for his contributions to our country. There is a lot to learn and take back as an actor. With the amount of prep and hard work the whole team has put in. I am sure the audiences will be thrilled to watch Sam's mesmerising journey to make India what it is today," said Vicky.

Noteworthy, Sam Manekshaw’s career spanned over four decades and five wars. He was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. Furthermore, his military victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war played an instrumental role in the creation of Bangladesh.
