Bhoomi One Line Review:

A gritty revenge story of attaining redemption of pride and justice featuring striking performances!

Positive Points: An ensemble performance by cast, cinematography, gritty action scenes and a stellar performance by Sanjay Dutt!

Negative Points: Predictable plotline, slower first half, multiple loopholes in the storyline and film’s running time!

Bhoomi Plot Review:

Arun Sachdeva (Sanjay Dutt) is totally invested and busy making all arrangements needed for the wedding of his beloved daughter Bhoomi (Aditi Rao Hydari). It was the moment of joy and celebration and Bhoomi was nervous yet happy as she was marrying the love of her life, Neeraj (Sidhant Gupta) little known about Vishal (Puru Chibber), the one-sided lover, who plans to avenge the rejection and abduct Bhoomi a night before her wedding, drug and rape her, with the help of his cousin Dhulia (Sharad Kelkar). Their world was torn into pieces when Neeraj called off the marriage knowing the girl he loved and is marrying got gang raped. As the story progresses, and both father and daughter went through a lot of disgrace, the injustice! And the film further narrates the gripping tale of revenge and how this father-daughter duo attains justice, in their own way!

Of course, the chemistry between such “Father & Daughter Goal” relationships will make you deeply rooted and stir your emotional spectrum, and it succeeds in it. But the one thing that stands out and makes it noticeably obvious is the predictable plotline, as the story progresses. The narration did make makes some efforts to present something new to the plot! Though, when the flow of story flips and things go catastrophically in the story, you could guess well what will be the story ahead. Elements of the corrupt justice system, an over-powered goon with no one stopping him, stereotypical social norms are indeed the reality that we know but also make story predictable to watch. It would have been better if it had something new to offer in terms of aesthetics, like the courtroom drama in Pink brought new meaning and content to what viewers expected. Although if you are the fan of Sanjay Dutt, you'll be in for a treat, as he delivers one of the finest courtroom monologues he ever performed in his career. And also, if you are a fan of revenge plotline, the story then turns out to be strong as it has the second half that just speaks for revenge and redemption! Good thing, the director didn’t take the super-heroic approach to present everything in over the top manner!

Bhoomi Direction Review:

Despite the story being predictable at most point and half-way through the film, you would wait for the character to go nuts and take revenge, narration style of Omung Kumar will give you a reason to stick till the end. The screenplay of this film is well written and it was well-painted on screen by the director. There were many moments that were included and executed well which drag you to the moment and make you empathize with the character. And even make you clench the first when the final showdown happens!

Bhoomi Performance Review:

Bhoomi is visually pleasing, no doubt! But it is the performance of the cast that glues you from the start till the last frame of the film. Even half-way through plot became predictable, but you would still feel to stick to the end, cause you'll be rooted for the characters and wish justice to be in their favor. Some of the supporting cast members like Riddhi Sen, Rahul Varma, Shekhar Suman, Puru Chibber, who delivered fine performances and remain to the character. Although character and performance of Sidhant Gupta were monotonous and falls short to deliver any commendable act in the role, his wasn’t the only one!

Sharad Kelkar in the negative role, which is also stereotypical in content, did play and justified his role, but still unimpressive when he was in a frame with Sanjay Dutt! Despite playing negative roles and impressing the audience with his villainous antics, he just falls short to be more intimidating than Sanjay. The lead character of Bhoomi was perfectly portrayed by Aditi Rao Hydari! She delivers consistently great performance from one scene to another, and the moment and monologues with her father became cute highlights in the film!

The film Bhoomi was marked as Sanjay Dutt’s comeback film, and his performance just goes to prove his mastery over playing badass, despite dusted and beaten up! His character wasn’t built to be to be heroic blessed with human superpowers, it was composed just like an ordinary, older person who is happy with the world he has! And that eventually makes audience rooted for him, so be it courtroom scene or when he cusses the neighbors! Although, Sanjay Dutt’s presence is enough in the any given frame, but yet his performance didn’t overpower anyone’s performance in the film. Though wait for the final showdown was filled with powerful moments and performance by Sanjay, it was all worthwhile when characters of Arun and Bhoomi turn on the beast mode!

Bhoomi Technical Aspect Review:

The reason why we all rooted for the film and the common factor in the trailer that made us so anticipated for the movie was its action sequences and 'go badass’ elements. And you will not be disappointed with it. Even at the point, it might go over-the-top but it still remains content to the character line and narration.

In terms of cinematography, Artur Zurawski’s vision paints Agra and other locations beautifully. And when it comes to using appropriate cinematography-techniques for narration, it was well executed! As there were many scenes where which needs empathic gravitate, cinematography does justify the scene as it needed.

Bhoomi Music Review:

Music is one of the strong points of the film and it is even used well in the narrative point of view. While Lag Ja Gale, Will You Marry Me serves as love ballad for the Bhoomi’s love story with Neeraj and Trippy Trippy is the item adding entertainment value, But it's the track Daag that takes praise as it adds grime tone to the narration and would make you feel connected to the misery of Bhoomi and her Baba! The background score of this action thriller is good for the narration and does justify many scenes!
