1. Gangubai Kathiawadi

The period drama revolves around a young woman who in no time makes her own name and emerges as the madam of brothels in the redlight district of Kamathipura in Mumbai. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial features Alia Bhatt in the titular role. After facing several delays, the much-anticipated film is slated to release on February 18, 2022.
2. Maidaan

This Ajay Devgn starrer is set in the golden period of Indian football (1952-1962). Superstar Ajay Devgn will be seen in the role of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim in the film. Directed by Amit Sharma, the biographical sports drama is produced by Boney Kapoor in association with ZEE Studios. It is scheduled to release on 3rd June, 2022.
3. Prithviraj

This historical biopic is about the fearless King Prithviraj Chauhan as he battles it out with Muhammad of Ghor. Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar play principal characters in the high-profile film. Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the film was supposed to release on 21st January, but it got postponed due to rising COVID-19 cases.
4. Shabaash Mithu

This sports drama, directed by Srijit Mukherji, is based on the life of current Test and ODI captain of the India women’s national cricket team, Mithali Raj. Taapsee Pannu plays the role of Mithali Raj. The film is scheduled to release on 4 February, 2022.
5. Chakda ‘Xpress

Based on the life of former captain of Indian national women’s cricket team, Jhulan Goswami, Chakda ‘Xpress sees Anushka Sharma in the titular role. Apart from playing the lead role, the actress is also producing the film under her production house Clean Slate Filmz. The Netflix original film will release soon. It is directed by Prosit Roy.
