The young celebrity star admits that she began gaining weight roughly two years ago when she began taking antidepressants. Aaliyah grew 12 to 13 kg in the last year and a half. She admits that she is a far cry from her former self. Aaliyah was initially overjoyed that she was gaining weight, but the weight gain did not cease. Aaliyah developed an unhealthy relationship with eating. It also had an impact on her mental health. It was exacerbated by comments from those who had noticed her weight gain.

The director of Gangs of Wasseypur's daughter admits that her weight gain was greater than acceptable. People began to notice it on Instagram and YouTube. They would then make comments on it, which Aaliyah believes is unnecessary.

" I was so upset about it and every time I got a comment, I felt worse. I thought, 'Oh my God, people are noticing..." she says. Anurag Kashyap's daughter is in a lot better mental state right now. While she is still unhappy with her appearance and insecure, she now has a more positive attitude.
