Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar reject to headline Hindi remake of Tamil hit Viswasam
As per a source, both the actors felt that the remake would not suit the Hindi audiences’ sensibilities.
Manish Shah of Goldmine Telefilms, known for releasing Hindi dubbed versions of several South Indian blockbusters on TV and his YouTube channel, is gearing up to set his foot into film production. He plans to produce Hindi films and has even acquired the remake rights of the Tamil blockbuster Viswasam (2019).
As per reports, Shad had once approached Ajay Devgn to headline the film. However, the actor turned down the offer. Later, Akshay Kumar also rejected the offer.
“He had approached Ajay Devgn to reprise the role played by Ajith in the original version. However, he turned it down. Even Akshay Kumar refused the film. Both the actors felt that the film would not suit the Hindi audiences’ sensibilities,” a source in the know informs a publication.
Another source divulges, “Balaji Telefilms were also approached to come on board and co-produce the remake of Viswasam. However, since no big actor had signed the lead part, they declined the request.”
When a leading entertainment portal recently spoke to Manish Shah and asked whether he wanted to remake Viswasam with Ajay Devgn, he said, “See, a lot of discussions take place. But it’s not that it will always lead to fruition.”
