On Kirron Kher's 71st birthday, her husband, Anupam Kher, went on Twitter to wish her well and talk about how long they've been together. Anupam Kher was happy to have known Kirron for almost 50 years and told the story of when they first met in 1974. Kirron was a national badminton player and a top student at Panjab University at the time.

He remembered with fondness their first meeting at the Department of Indian Theatre in Chandigarh, where Kirron stood out as Panjab University's best student. Anupam respected Kirron's intelligence in school, her skill as a national badminton player, her long history in theatre, and her personality that was bigger than life.

Kirron Kher got married to famous actor Anupam Kher. She had been married to Gautam Berry before. Sikandar Kher and Tara Alisha Berry are her two children from her first marriage.

Kirron Kher's first movie was the Punjabi movie ‘Aasra Pyar Da’ in 1983. She then stopped acting until 1996. During this time, she had a small part in the movie ‘Pestonjee’ (1987) with Anupam Kher. Kirron got back into playing in the mid-1990s with a play called ‘Saalgirah’. ‘Sardari Begum’, a movie by Shyam Benegal, marked her return to the big screen.

Kirron Kher became known for playing the perfect mother in Bollywood films like ‘Devdas’, ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Hum Tum’, ‘Dostana’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Om Shanti Om’, and many others.
