Manoj Bajpayee says ‘I do not let anyone know about my sleepless nights, anxiety, and nervousness’

Manoj Bajpayee says ‘I do not let anyone know about my sleepless nights, anxiety, and nervousness’

Manoj Bajpayee is one of the finest actors the industry has produced. He is often regarded as a method actor as well as a director’s actor. The actor who is a recipient of three National awards has been in the acting industry for three decades. Recently, the actor revealed that he still has sleepless nights in the first ten days of his film or show’s shoot.

Speaking about his early days of shooting, the actor said, “Just to answer myself and to be true to myself, I have to work hard on every character. The initial 10 days are tough. After so many years, I do not let anyone know about my sleepless nights, anxiety, and nervousness. But till the time I find the soul of the character, it’s mentally hectic and tedious for me. I hope someone can just put a camera inside my brain and find out how nervous and miserable I am from the time we start preparing till ten days past the start of the shoot.”

Manoj Bajpayee also discussed his debut movie, Drohkaal, in the conversation. He appeared on screen alongside Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah in the film. Additionally, Bajpayee's knees felt "frozen" because he was in the same shot as the illustrious performers. He was immediately willing to take on a minor role in the movie since he was so impressed by the two stars.

Revealing the reason why he chose to do Drohkaal, Manoj mentioned, “In Bombay, the first film of mine that was released was Drohkaal. I went to Govind Nihalani hoping to get something significant in his films but by the time I reached there, all the roles were gone. He left it to me if I really want to do that part and I chose it because I was getting to meet Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri and also because I was getting to work with Govind Nihalani.”

Over the years of his acting career, the actor has delivered amazing performances in films like Special 26, Gangs of Wasseypur, Sonchiriya, Raajneeti, and many more. He is also part of the famous web series called The Family Man. The actor will next appear in his upcoming film Gulmohar which is slated to release on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar in August 2022.
