Salman Khan has filed for a gun licence to protect himself and his family after receiving death threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, whose associates were responsible for the brutal killing of Punjabi musician Sidhu Moose Wala.

According to reports, the Tiger 3 actor headed to the Mumbai Police headquarters on July 23 and met with the chief officer Vivek Phansalkar to get a gun licence. His visit was a necessity when obtaining a gun licence so that the authority could physically examine him.

Following the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala, Salman Khan's personal security has already been stepped up. Lawrence Bishnoi, who was being questioned by Delhi Police, claimed that Salman and his father Salim Khan will never be forgiven by the Bishnoi community until they publicly apologise in Jambaji temple for killing a blackbuck.

Hastimal Saraswat, Salman's attorney, claimed receiving death threats in a letter that said, "Enemy's friend is enemy," to the Jodhpur police station last month. The recent threat that Salman and his father Salim Khan got was similar to this one.

Salman Khan received a death threat from Lawrence Bishnoi as a result of the actor's involvement in the 1998 black buck killing case. Bishnoi is being held by the Punjab Police in connection with the inquiry into the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala. Bishnoi had been serving time in Delhi's Tihar Jail.
