Shamshera will feature rivalry between actors Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt.

Sanjay Dutt claims he was afraid of hitting ‘beta’ Ranbir Kapoor in Shamshera

After stepping in the shoes of Sanjay Dutt for the 2018 biopic, Sanju, Ranbir Kapoor is all set to fight him in his upcoming film Shamshera. Ranbir plays both the father and the son in the historical action drama, marking his first role double performance in his career. While Sanjay portrays the antagonist, a brutal cop by the name of Shuddh Singh, Kapoor plays the hero who stands up for his people.

The director and stars of Shamshera opened up about the movie and the relationship between Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in a new video that was posted on YRF's social media networks. The film also featured glimpses from the set and behind-the-scenes video. The actors can be seen getting along and talking to one another in the clip, with Ranbir showing concern by asking Sanjay whether he is okay.

Kapoor spoke candidly about what it was like to fight the man he played in a biopic, stating, “I’ve grown up at the age of nine and 10 having Sanjay Dutt’s posters in my cupboard. Then getting to play him in a biopic. And finally for him to be the merciless nemesis Shudh Singh”. Ranbir also discussed being beaten by Sanjay, claiming that "on camera, he was so ruthless" and that he had never been beaten so brutally in his life.

Also starring Vaani Kapoor as the female lead, Shamshera is slated to release on 22nd July, 2022.
