Taapsee Pannu’s Shabaash Mithu to enter theatres on February 4, 2022

Giving a special birthday surprise to India’s Test and ODI skipper Mithali Raj, Viacom18 Studios on Friday took to Twitter and announced the release date of the forthcoming Hindi film Shabaash Mithu, a biopic on the cricketing star, toplined by Taapsee Pannu.

The film, which chronicles the highs and lows, success and failures of Raj’s life, is set to arrive in cinemas on February 4, 2022. In addition to Taapsee Pannu, talented actor Vijay Raaz also plays an important role in the much-awaited sports-drama.

Talking about stepping into the shoes of Indian women’s cricket team captain, Pannu had earlier said, “It’s going to be a tough project because of two reasons. Firstly, I will have to pick up the game of cricket, and second, I will have to enact Mithali on screen. It is tough to play her because she is absolutely the opposite of how I am. She is extremely calm, reserved, well-poised and speaks her mind eloquently. I am more of an impulsive person. I say things without processing them well enough.”

Helmed by Srijit Mukherji from the script written by Priya Aven, Shabaash Mithu has been shot across domestic and international locations. The film is produced by Viacom18 Studios.
