After Laal Singh Chaddha, and Raksha Bandha, Vijay Deverakonda's latest film Liger has become the latest target of the boycott trend by the audience. Since the announcement, the upcoming movie has been making headlines because it is Deverakonda's Bollywood debut. Puri Jagannadh's film, supported by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, also has Ananya Panday in the lead role. Due to Karan Johar's involvement in the film, the majority of people are boycotting the movie.

The film's lead actor, Vijay Deverakonda, responded to the same during a press conference in Vijayawada by saying that they began production on the project in 2019 when there was no such trend and were well into the shooting schedules by 2020. The actor claims that at the time they believed Karan Johar was the best choice to distribute their film all across India. He led us into North India, which was uncharted ground for them, using Baahubali. They wrote the script and produced it. They eagerly accepted the Bollywood director's offer to release the film in Hindi, and as a result, they now have a tremendous following in the North.

Earlier, the Arjun Reddy star had also shared a cryptic tweet in Telugu that read, "When we are doing as per dharma no need to care about others, We'll fight back." He also added a fire emoji to his tweet. Recently, Vijay defended Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha and claimed he didn't comprehend the boycott calls. Following that, a trend called "Boycott Liger" was established on social media by a group of users.

Vijay Deverakonda will play a boxer in Liger with Ananya Panday, Ronit Bose Roy, and Ramya Krishna in crucial parts. The film will hit the theatres on August 25 and will be released in all five languages.
