There were many rumours and reports regarding who would play the 'AK' before Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap were cast as the stars in Vikramaditya Motwane's meta-documentary 'AK vs AK.' Now, in a recent media interview, Motwane recalled how he had originally written the script with Aamir Khan in mind before approaching Akshay Kumar. However, when neither of them succeeded, it was ultimately given to Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap.
In the documentary, Anil and Anurag portrayed fictionalised versions of themselves for the uninitiated. In order to exact revenge on Kapoor for exposing him to public scrutiny, Anurag kidnaps his daughter Sonam Kapoor, sending the seasoned actor into a state of panic. In an interview, Vikramaditya Motwane addressed rumours about whether Aamir Khan was considered for the role or not. He recalled and said, “The actor AK could’ve been multiple people. I was like, ‘Aamir is never going to do it’, so let’s not even try.” Further sharing how his meeting had gone with Akshay Kumar when he had approached him for the role, Vikram revealed, “Akshay Kumar, who we did approach, and it was a very interesting meeting.”
