Shahid Kapoor is working on a large-scale historical play based on the Mahabharata alongside Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani. The film is expected to be made on a massive budget, with worldwide VFX companies on board to bring the plot to life. It is set to begin production in 2024, when Shahid Kapoor completes filming for the Roshan Andrew-directed ‘Koi Shaq’, which also stars Pooja Hegde. And now, there's an exclusive update on the director of Pooja Entertainment's yet-untitled epic.

According to sources close to the project, Sachin Ravi, a Kannada film editor turned filmmaker, would helm the historical epic for the Bhagnanis. "Sachin Ravi has been in talks with the producers for some time now, and things are finally moving forward. It's based on one of the most intriguing figures from the Mahabharata, and Sachin is excited to explore this universe with Shahid in the titular role," a person close to the project told. Sachin is best known for directing Rakshit Shetty in the much-loved action adventure ‘Avane Srimannarayana.’

According to the source, Shahid has been wanting to shoot a large-scale period picture for a long time and has been exploring several period film concepts with various partners. He has finally found a partner who shares his vision and is working together to produce something exceptional for the public. Sachin has worked as an editor on some of the most important Kannada films, and he is also a VFX specialist.

“Sachin has the right vision and knowledge to mount the story at the scale that it warrants. He is fascinated by the idea of creating unexplored visuals and that’s exactly what this rendition of a character from Mahabharata warrants. He has found the right partners in Pooja Entertainment, who are going all out with their support on the budget front,” the source concluded.

Pooja Entertainment is preparing for the release of Vikas Bahl's ‘Ganapath,’ starring Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, during the Dussehra weekend, followed by the Ali Abbas Zafar-directed Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. They have scheduled the release of Mudassar Aziz's comedy starring Arjun Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh, and Bhumi Pednekar.
