Bheeshma Parvam Box Office: Mammootty starrer sets a new record in Kerala during the opening weekend
On March 3, 2022, the new Mamooty film was released in theatres to gushing praise.
Since the late 1900s, Mammooty, also called Mamukka by his fans, has been the trend-setter in the Malayalam cinema industry, generating countless successes. Mollywood movies have gained a global fan base in recent years, and their success has begun to show in box office results. Bheeshma Parvam (2022), Mommooty's most recent release, broke the record for the greatest opening weekend in Kerala for a Mollywood film.
The Mammootty-starrer has been doing very well at the box office since its release on March 3rd. The action thriller drama, directed by Amal Neerad, has now set a new record by grossing the highest first-weekend box office total ever. With its first-weekend box office revenue, Bheeshma Parvam has allegedly surpassed Lucifer (2019), the Mohanlal blockbuster.
Within the first weekend (4 days) of its release, Bheeshma Parvam surpassed the box office record set by Mohanlal's Lucifer. For nearly three years, Lucifer, Prithviraj Sukumaran's directorial debut, had held the record for the industry's largest first-weekend opening. The Mammootty-starrer, on the other hand, has now become Malayalam cinema's all-time largest first-weekend opener.
Bheeshma Parvam had a strong start at the box office, being one of the few films in Kerala to gross more than Rs. 6 crores on its first day. On Thursday, the film made roughly Rs. 6-6.25 crores from around 1775 showings on 406 screens. The action thriller starring Mammootty had the third-highest opening day in the state for a Mollywood film. It earned additional Rs. 50 lakhs throughout the rest of India, although playing on a modest number of screens, for an overall opening day of Rs. 6.50-6.75 crores.
For a long time, Mohanlal has ruled the Mollywood opening toppers list, with Odiyan (2018) at the top and the newly released Marakkar (2021) as runner-up. Apart from the films mentioned above, two additional films, Sarkar (2018) and Baahubali 2 (2017), have crossed the Rs. 5 crore barrier.
