The good v/s evil crime-drama 'Policegiri' featuring Sanjay Dutt and Prachi Desai hit the screens on July 5. The movie was not expected to start with good numbers, owing to probable tough competition from the other release on the same day - 'Lootera'. However, the niche appeal of 'Lootera' assisted 'Policegiri' in gaining better response from the masses.
However, the non-enticing content of 'Policegiri' proved as an hindrance in the further development in numbers for the film. The movie fetched around 3 crore nett on its first day of release. Considering its early estimates, 'Policegiri' directed by K. S. Ravikumar, was expected to achieve 2.60 to 2.75 crore nett on Saturday. 2.70 crore nett is the figure grabbed by the film on Saturday. In first two days of its release, the film collected 5.70 crore nett and it was expected to accomplish around 8.5 to 9 crore nett over the weekend.
'Policegiri' did well in regions like north and central India and in the single screen theatres. If the film would have done better at posh multiplexes in metro cities, then there was possibility of seeing more than 15% growth in figures.
