First Weekend Box Office Collection of 'Satyagraha'

The renowned Bollywood director Prakash Jha crafted an inspirational socio-political-thriller in the form of ' Satyagraha ' that released on August 30. The film is leaded by the stellar starcast like Amitabh Bachchan , Ajay Devgn , Arjun Rampal , Kareena Kapoor , Amrita Rao and Manoj Bajpai . The movie received mixed reviews from the critics and plenty of claps from the audience. The powerful story added up to positive word-of-mouth publicity of the film.

We earlier reported that ' Satyagraha ' was very well-received by the audience and attained 11.21 crore nett on the opening day, which was the highest first day collection ever. The viewers appreciated the film even prior to its release, as the trailers made sure to captivate the people's interest with its touching storyline. ' Satyagraha ' observed a fair opening at the domestic box office and hopes to retain the same steam in the first week of its release. On Saturday, this political saga witnessed a hike of around 15 to 20% and managed to collect 13.08 crore nett. Hence, the total collection of two days of the film can be summed up to 24.29 crore nett. Yet, the exact figure of Sunday collections is not known, but the film is anticipated to take a big leap at the box office. ' Satyagraha ' reported the total overseas collection of approximately 4.50 crore. Therefore, the hitherto total worldwide collections of this magnum opus is 28.79 crore.

Though the movie is witnessing an excellent start, grabbing around 60 crore nett in the first of release is not a cakewalk, as the next week will see two releases, ' Shuddh Desi Romance ' and ' Zanjeer '. Also, the chances of facing tough competition from earlier releases like ' Chennai Express ' and ' Madras Cafe ' can't be ignored.
