This Independence Day saw a grand release hitting the silver screen. Milan Luthria 's directorial project, ' Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara! ' starring Akshay Kumar , Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan released on August 15, Thursday, and witnessed packed cinema halls on the first day of its release. However, the scenario altered on Friday and the film had to walk through a thorny path.

The movie is the next installment of earlier super hit crime-thriller, ' Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai ' that featured Ajay Devgn , Emraan Hashmi and Prachi Desai . The sequel did not retain the earlier energy of its predecessor in terms of the storyline and the overall flow of the movie. The screen size was increased to 2600 on Friday, which was 1500 on Thursday. However, it could not work wonders for the film. The morning shows on Friday saw 30% occupancy. Still, central and western part of India observed comparatively better openings for the shows.

The evening shows could not bring a drastic difference and the chances seemed high of the film garnering almost similar figures like Thursday shows. As per the reports, ' Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara! ' collected 11.00 crore nett on Thursday and it incurred 11.50 crore nett on Friday. Hence, the total domestic collection the movie had yet made can be summed up to 22.50 crore nett. The probable reason for a cold response to this much-hyped thriller can be the other grand release, ' Chennai Express ' featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone , released on August 9 and still going strong in cinema halls luring more and more number of audience. Hence, ' Chennai Express ' ate out the major profit share of ' Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara! '. The other reasons for weak performance of the movie could be feeble storyline, non-realistic fictional gangster tale and mixed reviews. However, the soothing music tracks came to the rescue and saved the film from completely sinking.

In order to sustain its position in the first week of its release, the film should reach up to the target of at least 50 crore nett, which does not seem a cakewalk.
