Second Weekend Box Office Report: Lipstick Under My Burkha, Steady as ever!
A Dark Comedy, directed by Alankrita Shrivastava, is still standing still against big releases like Mubarakan!
There are hardly any movies that stand strong with the new releases and maintaining a steady business over the box office! It would be safe to say, the film Lipstick Under My Burkha is winning a box office race with its content and the sheer entertainment it is. The reason why it is considered as success, as it is released after so much controversy, scrutiny, and speculation that it will not survive the week, considering four new films releasing next Filmy Friday. So how far the box office earning graph is going on?
The film was released on just 400 screens in the country, but on its first week, Lipstick Under My Burkha earned 10.96 crores at the box office. It was a figure which no one expected it to cross. But on Friday of the second week, it just earned 94 lakhs at the box office, slightly disrupting the steady graph of 1.5 crores on an average, because of new releases. But on Saturday it bounced back to 1.37crores followed by Sunday earning 1.45 crores making a total of Rs. 14.72 crores.
The film Lipstick Under My Burkha, is a story of four women, in different age and class, in a small town in Bhopal, discovering the sexual freedom and exploring sensuality, in the dark satiric narration! The film is directed by Alankrita Shrivastava and produced by Prakash Jha. And it also includes dynamic cast like Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak Shah, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur, Sushant Singh, Vikrant Massey, Shashank Arora, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi and Jagat Singh Solanki.
